Project Highlights
  • HP Tool: STAR (Stop, Think, Act, Review)

In a good-catch moment by a HIVOLT technician, the 138KV line tie switch was found to be arcing on one of the phases at the Elsa substation. The control center was notified and the station came out to investigate. The wiremen had planned to be working in the vicinity, but due to safety concerns we asked them to wait until the problematic switch had been addressed. HP tool: STAR (Stop, Think, Act, Review)

HIVOLT  was responsible for designing test plans for the new relays that were being installed for the customer.  We Isolated and retired existing circuits and equipment, installed new circuits and associated equipment, tested and verified proper operation and placed new equipment and circuits in service. HIVOLT provided AEP with a lead P&C technician and an Assistant P&C technician for the duration of the project.
